Former spokesman of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Jakup Krasniqi has declared this Wednesday that he did not commit any criminal acts during the war in Kosovo or after it.
During the trial in The Hague, he described as “absurd” the accusations that he, along with the other accused, “persecuted” members of the Democratic League of Kosovo.
He added that he hates violence, killing and torture because he considers them low. Furthermore, Krasniqi emphasized that during the time he was the spokesman of the KLA, he tried to keep alive the hope of the people to continue the resistance through statements.
“I have never been in the service of any crime policy. In my life I have never committed any criminal act, neither before the war, during the war nor after the war. I have always acted honestly for freedom and national unity, which have been my life goals”, he said.
Earlier on, the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, denied the accusations of war crimes and acts against humanity, calling them fabricated, including the yellow house, mentioned in Dick Marti’s report.
On April 3, the trial against Thaçi, Krasniqi, the former head of the Assembly Kadri Veseli and the former chairman of the Vetëvendosje Parliamentary Group, Rexhep Selimi, began more than two years after the confirmation of the indictment.
At the beginning of the hearing, the four accused again pleaded not guilty to the ten charges.
