EU-Western Balkans Summit, Rama: Albania was evaluated positively

Prime Minister Edi Rama at the press conference clarified details about yesterday’s meeting held in Brussels. He said that the European Union has expressed a positive assessment of the work that Albania has done on its way to membership.

“The perspective of our countries towards EU was discussed, the process done was highlighted, the process of normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations was discussed, and I am very happy to share with you the fact that the member countries have a very positive assessment of the progress of Albania, and especially by the European Commission, is evaluated with positive marks for our negotiation team in the first phase of scanning the entire state body of Albania and our markets.

These days, I will organize a meeting to thank all the members of this team, which in total, counting the negotiators, presenters and contributors are about 1000 people, which includes not only the executive institutions but also independent one,” stated Rama.

According to the prime minister, the Western Balkans has been heard and gained respect like never before from the countries of the European Union.

“The Western Balkans has been heard, we have gained a respect that we have never had and it has become an inseparable part of the work of Brussels and it blows my mind, maybe both current presidents Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen have visited Albania and the region more than all their predecessors put together”, he said.
