The European Commission, on behalf of the EU, has disbursed today 90 million euros for Albania within its macro-financial assistance program (MFA) related to COVID-19.
Albania is the eighth country to receive a disbursement of the 3 billion-euro MFA emergency package for ten enlargement and neighborhood partner countries, aimed at helping them mitigate the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
This disbursement will contribute to mitigating the severe social and economic consequences of the coronavirus in Albania. Today’s transaction follows the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with Albania, which sets out the policy conditions that must be met for the disbursement of the second tranche of € 90 million .
These policy conditions are particularly relevant to improving governance or increasing social protection. Through this assistance, the EU expresses its solidarity with Albania and their citizens in these difficult times. /abcnews.al
