The Court of Tirana has set the security measure of “house arrest” and “compulsion to appear” for some doctors and employees of the Oncology Department at the University Hospital Center in Tirana for abuse of duty.
According to the investigations, these people, who were employed at the state hospital “Mother Teresa” as oncologists and using their duties, did not provide the proper service at the state hospital, but referred patients to private hospitals to receive the required service.
According to the investigations, the source of cobalt used for radiotherapy was also located in the “Mother Teresa” hospital, but it was not put into operation and was out of the conditions of usability, turning into a source of danger for patients.
