The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has expressed his condolences for the lives lost by the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria this Monday.
“Deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria this morning. I and the Albanians stand by the people affected and the families who lost their loved ones in this terrible tragedy. Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with them!”, writes Begaj.
The head of state says that they are close to the Turkish authorities and the families affected by the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale.
This serious situation has also awakened the international community, who have expressed solidarity and offered help to Turkey. The search and rescue forces continue to work to extract people who remained under the ruins of the collapsed buildings.
