Six inspectors of the Port of Durres have been put in handcuffs this Tuesday for the criminal offenses of “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions” and “Abuse of duty”.
The arrested inspectors are: Kalosh Sula, Luan Çelaj, Marsel Farruku, Naim Kadrimi, Isametin Vranezi and Eduart Matmuja.
From the investigations, it turned out that the above police officers, abusing the attributes given to them by the duty at P.K.K Port Durres, allowed the entry and exit of citizens who had travel bans in the Schengen area in exchange for monetary values, which ranged from 5 to 100 EUR.
Their interventions, documented during the investigations, were carried out continuously and repeatedly, including cases of allowing the passage of citizens declared wanted by the justice authorities, or vehicles that were not subject to the customs regime.
Also, the Court of First Instance of Durrës, as a function of this proceeding, has assigned personal security measures “Compulsion to appear in the judicial police” for 20 citizens, suspected of the criminal offense of “Active corruption against persons exercising public functions”.
Investigations have revealed that these citizens have carried out corrupt interactions with the police officers mentioned above, while the authorities are working to identify other persons involved in this illegal activity.
“On 21.02.2023, the Directorate of Investigation at the Police Supervision Agency, executed the Criminal Decision of the Court of First Instance of Durrës for the appointment of the personal security measure “Imprisonment” for police officers:
1- Inspector K. S., 57 years old, with control duties at the P.K.K. Police Station. Port Durres
2- Inspector L. Ç., 32 years old, with supervisory duties at the P.K.K. Police Station. Port Durres
3- Inspector M. F., 30 years old, with supervisory duties at the P.K.K. Port Durres Police Station
4- Inspector N. K., 60 years old, with supervisory duties at the P.K.K. Police Station. Port Durres
5- Inspector I. V., 28 years old, with supervisory duties at the P.K.K. Police Station. Port Durres
6- Inspector E. M., 48 years old, with controller duties at the P.K.K.-Port Durres Police Station
The execution of the security measures was carried out in function of the criminal proceedings registered by the Durres Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office for the criminal offenses of “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions” and “Abuse of office”.
From the investigations carried out, it results that the above police officers, abusing the attributes given to them by the duty at P.K.K Port Durres, allowed the entry and exit of citizens who had travel bans in the Schengen zone in exchange for monetary values, which ranged from 5 up to 100 euros.
