The Special Prosecutor’s Office requests a “life imprisonment” sentence for Laert Haxhiu, who is accused of the double murder in Lushnja. Haxhiu is being tried in absentia for what is known as the Lushnja Massacre that happened in September 2017.
Jurgen Hoxha and Zamir Latifi lost their lives in that event. According to the investigations, the target of the execution was Aldo Bare’s nephew, Xhulio Shkurti, as revenge for the history of conflicts between the families of Xhulio Shkurti and Laert Haxhiu.
Laert Haxhiu is also accused by Albanian justice that, together with several other people, he is the author of 18 crimes in Albania, including 4 murders and several explosions with tritol.
