Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, has declared that starting from this Monday, there will be raining of medium intensity and to some extent high, mainly in the north-western part of Albania.
In a statement from Korça, Peleshi said that it will not be necessary for discharges in cascades, since the spring season does not favor floods. Moreover, the Minister underlined that the structures will be ready to prevent any situation that may arise.
“Starting from today after noon in the mainly north-western part of the country, spreading to the rest of the country, we will have rainfall intensity, with medium and to some extent high intensity.
I am making this communication to avoid emergencies that may be to some extent and local, we are in a season that does not favor flooding, the good news is the management of the cascade that will not need unloading, which only happens when we have high intensity rainfall and when we are forced to make forced discharges in all the cascades of Drin, Fierza and Koman.
Discharges will be zero throughout the territory, only the time-focused intensity of rainfall in localities in the north-western part may cause swelling of streams and in a situation that may cause local flooding. We hope that this will be prevented, but in any case, we will have the mobilization of all municipalities, but also the elders of the villages, the residents, to avoid movements on the roads that are threatened, to signal in time in case of a landslide or a situation that requires emergency intervention .
It is not a situation that will need high structures, it can be managed locally, but we are used to it and it is a good choice to notify in time to avoid injuries not only to people but also to material damages”, emphasized Peleshi.
