Chief Prosecutor Olsian Cela says that during 2023, related to decriminalization, out of 91 new requests, 77 processes were registered for in-depth verification. While reporting to the Parliament of Albania, C

ela stated that of these, 38 requests were made by the Department of Public Administration and 39 by the Central Election Commission. “During 2023, the Decriminalization Sector followed the process of in-depth verification of the self-declared data in the form, pursuant to law no. 138/2015, for 155 subjects. Out of 91 new requests, during the year 2023, 77 processes were registered for in-depth verification pursuant to law no. 138/2015.

These processes, according to the competent bodies that have requested in-depth verification of the data self-declared in the forms by the subjects, for the year 2023, belong to you, 38 requests made by the Department of Public Administration and 39 made by the Central Election Commission.

During 2023, 85 processes for in-depth verification were completed, of which 29 decisions are processes registered during 2023 and 56 (fifty-six) decisions are processes carried over from 2017-2022.

Of the cases for which the in-depth verification process was completed in 2023 and the result was approved, based on articles 69, 74 and 76 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, for 9 persons, the material was transferred for jurisdiction to the relevant prosecutions, as suspects for the criminal offense of “Forgery of seals, stamps or forms”, provided by article 190 of the Criminal Code, of which 4 are for the requests of 2023, 2 (two) for the requests of 2020 and 3 (three) for the requests of the year 2021. The persons who have been found to have filled out the self-declaration form with false data belong to the requests for verification received as follows: – 8 (eight) from the Department of Public Administration; – 1 (one) from the Central Election Commission”, he emphasized./abcnews.al
