In the recommendations of the report of the European Commission, official Brussels assesses that Albania has progressed in the objectives of the decision of the European Council, for the opening of negotiations.

“Albania continues to maintain a position in line with the European Union line in terms of foreign policy. Despite the state of emergency, Albania has made decisive progress and is close to meeting the conditions set on the eve of the first intergovernmental conference,” the report said.

“Despite a positive result in the agreement of June 5, 2020, the political dialogue in the country needs to be improved, in particular regarding the electoral reform and its implementation.”

It is also noted that further efforts have been made towards establishing a solid record in the fight against corruption, although, further added, this remains a long-term objective that continues to require further structured and sustained efforts.
