The Commander-in-Chief of the Guard of the Republic Gramoz Sako has resigned. Since 2013, Sako has led the institution that takes care of the security of high state dignitaries and the preservation of objects of special importance.
Who is Gramoz Sako?
Gramoz Sako was born in Tepelena, on January 19, 1971. Since 2013, he has been serving as the Commander of the Republic Guard.
Sako has a long and varied experience in the military field. After graduating from the “Skënderbej” Land Forces Academy, in 1993 he was awarded the title of officer.
He started his work experience by performing the duties of Platoon Commander in the Guard of the Republic of Albania, and then continuing with the performance of duties in functions such as: Deputy Company Commander, Head of the Protection Group of the Minister of Public Order and Head in the escort group of the President of the Assembly, Head of Section in the Directorate of Protection of High State Personalities and Specialist in the Directorate of Borders and Migration. Further, from 2009 onwards, he developed his career in the private sector as a project manager.
During his professional career, Sako has completed a series of qualifications and trainings mainly in the field of order and public safety. He holds a diploma as a “Senior Police Specialist” issued by the “Arben Zylyftari” Police Academy and a diploma in the branch of “Criminal Law” in the cycle of scientific master’s studies at “Ismail Qemali” University.
Also, he was certified in the course developed by the USA for “Defense Operations”, the training developed by the European Institute of Law Management and Diplomacy with the theme “Body language and the art of negotiation”, and others.
During his career in the field of security, the General Director of the Guard has been appreciated on many occasions for the achieved work results, but the medal given by the President of the Republic of Albania, Alfred Moisiu, “For military services” by decree no. 3861, dated 23.6.2006. On 4.4.2016, with decree no. 9502 of the President of the Republic of Albania, Bujar Nishani, receives the rank of “General Guard”. With the entry into force of Law 33/2021 “On the Guard of the Republic of Albania”, Sako holds the rank of “Major Director”.
