The Special Court of Appeals Against Corruption and Organized Crime has approved the measure of arrest in prison against the administrator of the company “Alba Exotic Fruits”, Eduart Dauti.

The Special Appellate Division has rejected Daut’s request for a more lenient security measure by deciding that he stay behind the cell at least until the end of the investigation. Dauti was arrested about a month ago on charges of drug trafficking within the structured criminal group.

According to the prosecution, quantities of cocaine were found in six different cases in containers with bananas coming from Latin America to the Port of Durres ordered by the company “Alba Exotic Fruit”. The 51-year-old has denied the charges before the court, demanding even milder security measures, but the black platoon rejected his request.

Recall that the last shipment of cocaine of “Alba Exotic Fruit” fell on police networks on October 12 in the port of Durres. In one of the containers that came on behalf of the company “Alba Exotic Fruit”, a quantity of 10 kilograms and 185 grams of cocaine was seized.

This was the sixth time that cocaine was found in the containers of this company. The fifth time was on September 7, when about 7.7 kg of cocaine was seized divided into 8 packages. But this  does not stop there, as on July 26 and 29, quantities of 5 to 7 kg of cocaine were found in the ventilation area, and also on 12.10.21.

Recall that in 2019 this company was seized in Greece in the port of Piraeus a shipment of 137 kg of cocaine that had as final destination the port of Durres. At the time cocaine was replaced by rice by the US DEA.

‘Alba Exotic Fruit’ is a company, which has been operating in the market since 2011 and turns out to be owned by Eduart Dauti and Barjon Gumeni. The latter was arrested on July 13, when police discovered a load of 11.6 kilograms of cocaine, which Gumeni said had nothing to do with it.
