Central Election Commission (CEC) has postponed the decision regarding the validity of the mandate of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.
“Regarding the time, I don’t believe we have the opportunity to do it today. We can probably organize it, it doesn’t have to come from the place of serving the punishment, to appear physically, or we can organize it through an electronic communication platform”, emphasized the chairman of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi. Fredi Beleri’s representative, lawyer Klodiana Gjyzari, requested that a decision on Beler’s mandate cannot be given without him being present and giving his arguments.
“I have a request to allow the hearing of the subject of Alfred Beler, according to article 88 of the code of administrative procedures, it turns out that this subject has not been notified about the start of the procedure and for this reason, it requires to be heard in this process, to be given a hearing since it is a subject directly related to decision-making. A copy of the administrative file should be sent to him so that he can give his explanations and be taken into account in this procedure because a final decision cannot be made without hearing Beleri”, she said.
Beleri was found guilty of corruption in local elections.
