Central Elections Commission (CEC) has introduced Wednesday the Electronic Platform for Financial Reporting, which aims at strengthening the monitoring of the financing of political parties and the transparency of campaign funds.

During the working table, the Head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, said that this platform will contribute to efficient supervision.

“The digitalization project remains one of the most important projects of the Central Election Commission. Basically, the aim is to support the CEC for reporting and monitoring party funding. The platform is not the mechanism that solves the problem with the financing of parties, but it helps efficient administration and supervision”, said Celibashi.

The EU ambassador to Albania, Christiane Hohmann, who was also present at this table, said that this platform empowers citizens by offering them more transparency and opportunities to fight corruption.

She added that this approach increases transparency and improves the country’s democracy. Meanwhile, organizations and representatives of civil society, which focus on monitoring the elections in Albania, were also present at the meeting.

However, Chairman of the Central Election Commission received the US ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, and the European Union ambassador in a meeting today.
