Brussels has given new hope to the governments of countries seeking to open negotiations as soon as possible through a new negotiation methodology with the European Union.
Sokol Dedja, Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, explained to ABC News Albania the benefits of this new method of negotiation.
The new methodology increases the chances of opening negotiations but does not give guarantee.
Negotiations through the new methodology are going to put France in a new position compare to the countries that are seeking to open negotiations.
“The French President has publicly stated that if a new methodology is adopted, the path to a positive decision for Albania and Northern Macedonia will be opened,” stated Dedja.
The new way of negotiating will take more time but will provide other benefits that are currently impossible.
“It will be a long process because it is not an easy process to reach all European standards”, said Dedja.
The next meeting of the European Council is on 25 March./abcnews.al
