The Supreme Court has allowed the extradition to Turkey of citizen Faruk Ozer, arrested for fraud with cryptocurrencies. He was detained in August last year following an arrest warrant issued by Turkish authorities.
Farukt Ozer was arrested in Albania on August 30. He was found in a restaurant in Palasa, while he was hiding in our country for a long time. Faruk Fatih Özer escaped from Turkey with 2 billion dollars, which he had earned by defrauding tens of thousands of Turks, who had invested their money in the Turkish virtual currency “Thodex”.
He had cheated about 360 thousand users of his company, ‘Thodex’. Faruk Ozer was found to have entered Albania from the border crossing point of Rinas on April 20 of last year, while video footage emerged from the moment when he was accommodated in one of the capital’s hotels, by an Albanian citizen, who has stated that he was not aware of the criminal offense committed by the Turkish businessman.
In April of this year, the Turkish prosecutor’s office closed the investigation file against the boss of the cryptocurrency company “Thodex” Faruk Fatih Ozer, taking him to court. For him and three other associates, the prosecution has requested more than 40 thousand years in prison for each one. Ozer and his three accomplices are accused of setting up a fraud scheme by tricking tens of thousands of Turks who thought to invest in cryptocurrencies through this platform./abcnews.al
