The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj was in Slovenia for an official visit. The head of state said that the relations between the two states are good and that the political dialogue is at a high level.
He said that Albania considers Slovenia as a partner, not only regionally, but also European.
“The moment of this visit coincides with important developments both for the region and around the world. We share the view that the relations between the two countries are good and the political dialogue is at a high level. We consider Slovenia an important regional and European partner.
“I express my gratitude for the support that Slovenia has given to the process of Albania’s integration into the EU”, said Begaj.
The President said that he has asked the Slovenian counterpart to influence as much as possible for the restoration of direct flights Slovenia-Albania, as an opportunity for cooperation in the field of tourism, but also in the growth of businesses.
“I asked the president to influence as much as possible the restoration of the Ljubljana-Tirana airline, a line which in the past has been very successful and can give a great boost to cooperation in the field of tourism and business interaction”, he added.
Among other things, Begaj commented on the situation in the Balkans, while saying that the peoples need prosperity and should not remain hostage to the past. “Our region faces some sensitive issues, which are inherited from the past, for which we should not remain their hostage.
We must think about the issues that are of interest to our people for today, but also for the future, to guarantee prosperity, especially for the youth,” said Begaj. Meanwhile, the president of Slovenia, Natasha Pirc Musar, said that “we will have great opportunities for cooperation” with Albania in several fields.
