Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku declared this Thursday that the electricity price has not been increased since 2014.

This was a response to the opposition’s accusations that the electricity price was increased, meanwhile, she added that the electricity price is being used politically.

“I will focus on the price of electricity and the household consumer, which is the largest number of subscribers in the network. The price is being used politically these days, but I would like you to refer to this table. You will understand that there has been no increase in the price of electricity since 2014. This is an indisputable fact,” stated Balluku.

The Minister further spoke about network losses, emphasizing that in 2013 half of the electricity transmitted to the network lost, while in 2017 the losses were 46% and today they are at the level of 19%.

“In some areas where the investment has been completed, such as in Kombinat, the level of losses is 4%, this is also the European level of losses. We want the level of losses to reach the European one. This has been achieved in some areas.

The cost of purchasing electricity in 2015 was USD 150 billion a year to cover losses. This figure during 2020 was USD 70 billion as a result of the good management of the Drini cascade”, concluded the Minister./abcnews.al
