The court of Elbasan this Friday has decided not to extradite the Russian citizen Svetlana Timofeva, who was arrested in our country after being caught at the Gramsh factory.

The defense lawyer of the 33-year-old woman emphasized that the court’s decision was correct. Because her life was in danger in her country. “It was a decision based on the law as there was evidence that if this citizen was extradited to Russia she would be persecuted, as her position was against Putin”, said her defense lawyer Fatmir Lushi.

Journalist Edisona Skenderaj reports for ABC News that in today’s decision the court has taken into account the request of the Ppokuroria of Elbasan, which argued that the Russian woman could not return to Russia as her life was in danger.

Also, another reason why the judge made such a decision is that she has another trial in our country where she is accused of espionage.

Timofeeva, 33 years old from Russia, was arrested on August 20, 2022 together with two other citizens, Mikhail Zorin, 23 years old from Russia and Fedir Aplatov from Ukraine, after they tried to enter the premises of the arms factory in Gramsh and threw neuro-paralyzing spray at two soldiers guarding the military facility.
