American prosecutors and judges have visited SPAK, where they also met with the head of SPAK Altin Dumani. In this meeting, the ongoing efforts to strengthen the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law were discussed.
It is also emphasized that the United States supports SPAK and other justice institutions that are building a stronger democracy for the Albanian people.
“Today, Embassy Tirana welcomed the Honorable Trina Higgins, U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah; Chief Judge Robert Shelby, from the District Court of Utah; and Justice Paige Petersen of the Utah Supreme Court.
During five days in Albania, they will meet with prosecutors and judges at SPAK and the Special Courts as well as officials at other justice institutions to exchange on rule of law and good governance principles. The visit by the judges and prosecutor reinforces the United States’ unwavering support for Albania’s justice reform”.
