During the presentation of the developments for the party unification platform, Enkelejd Alibeaj also spoke about the proposals of some deputies for additions to it. He said that these additional proposals were not accepted as the majority of DP deputies did not agree with them.
Alibeaj spoke about the proposals of Ferdinand Xhaferaj and Agron Gjekmarkaj to stop the re-candidacy of Berisha and Basha for the leadership of the party. According to him, this request was not accepted by the majority of deputies.
Also, the addition proposed by Alfred Rushaj and Fatjon Veizaj for setting some additional criteria for the procedures of electing the chairman of the Democratic Party was not accepted. Alibeaj also said that there was a request to ban Berisha’s participation in the PD Parliamentary Group, which was also not accepted.
The first point of this document is related to the denunciation of hate speech by all parties to anyone in the party, in order to then move towards unification.
Other points seem to restore normalcy in the DP, which requires the return to the Parliamentary Group of the party of all deputies who supported Berisha, while also demanding the termination of any unilateral process of reorganization of the party, which has recently begun the Commission of Re-establishment.
In the other two points, that no. 4 and no.5 is required the establishment of a joint working group that will coordinate this process, while as point no.6 is the launch of an awareness process among Democrats, which will serve also as a reconciliation campaign.
Abcnews.al reported yesterday that MPs Ferdinand Xhaferaj and Agron Gjekmarkaj have requested that in the elections for the leader of the Democratic Party, anyone who has led the party for two consecutive terms be excluded.
Although no name is mentioned anymore, this proposal, if it will be considered by the Parliamentary Group, interrupts the path of re-candidacy of Berisha and Basha.
If this proposal is approved, then the chances are that it will be defined in the statute of the Democratic Party, making that no one who has two terms can run for re-election as party leader.
