Albanian protesters blame government for price hikes

Citizens have again come out today in protest against the price increase, despite the fact that the government has taken some measures since the first days of the revolt.

The protest started at 11:00 from “Skenderbej” square. The protesters are then expected to head to the prime minister, an itinerary that has been followed in a week of protests across the country. The condition that the protesters have is that the government meets all the demands presented by them.



A few minutes before the start of the protest, the state police took measures. It is located in the center of Tirana. Dozens of vehicles were placed near the Ministry of Interior.

As other times on alert will be some police forces. All the protests were peaceful and without incident, although there were some accompanied.

Despite the statements of the Prime Minister Edi Rama that the protests are a shame for Albania and damage its position in the international arena regarding the war in Ukraine, according to him only Russia likes, the protesting citizens have warned that it will not stop

After the start of the protests for the increase of the oil price, the government has set up the National Fuel Monitoring Board which sets the price of the fuel taking as reference the price that the hydrocarbons will be sold in the stock exchanges the day before, the protests have continued today in the country.

The decision published in the official gazette clearly defines the tasks of the Fuel Monitoring Board. Contrary to what the Prime Minister stated that the price will be approved every day in the decision it is determined that the Board sets every week or when it deems necessary, the ceiling price for the sale of oil, gasoline and liquefied gas.
