Arjani Rizaj is an Albanian who was executed on the evening of Thursday, November 9 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Rizaj was shot while inside his vehicle, which was parked near the emergency room of the Luis Vernaza hospital, in the center of the city of Guyaquil in Ecuador, local media reported.
The victim, 53 years old, was shot at least 9 times by a 9mm caliber firearm. The incident happened around 20:30. According to police data, the Albanian was waiting for his wife, who was in the hospital, visiting her father.
The perpetrators arrived on a motorcycle and after committing the murder left with the same vehicle they arrived with. The local police tried to urgently send the Albanian to the Luis Vernaza hospital, but then he was sent to the Panamericana clinic, where he died due to his injuries.
Then the forensic procedures were carried out, such as the analysis of the scene and the transfer of the body to the Forensic Laboratory.
In a short version received from the wife of the Albanian citizen, she mentioned that her husband did not work because he was without documents and that the money he receives is because his relatives sent him remittances from Albania and Canada. The couple told officers they did not know the motive for the attack.
This event happened on the same day when Dritan Rexhepi was arrested in Turkey, the news of his arrest spread on November 10. The subject is known in Albania as the Albanian ‘Chapo Guzmán’, due to the escapes he has carried out.
Rexhepi is wanted by his country and by Italy. In addition, he left Ecuador, where he had to appear periodically as part of pre-release measures for a drug-trafficking conviction, in which he served seven of the three years of his sentence.
