Albania will make wearing masks mandatory starting this Thursday as the country attempts to prevent a resurgence in coronavirus cases following an easing of social distancing measures.

Based on the new decision of the government expected to be detailed these days, the head of stste police, Ardi Veliu informed on Monday that every public spaces in Albania will be controlled and monitored to identify those that will dare to break rules.

“State Police will be fully committed to guarantee the respect of Covid-19 new rule. Police patrols will monitor all the public spaces as we remind that from Thursday wearing face masks will be mandatory. We appeal to all citizens to respect new rules,” says in a press statement State Police.

Bigger fines are expected to be imposed to all those who will refuse to wear masks as it was required.

The mask requirement appears to be an attempt to keep the outbreak in check now that social social distancing guidelines have been relaxed to their lowest level following a recent slowdown in new cases./abcnews.al
