Albania makes mandatory vaccination for different categories

From  31th December, all employees of public administration, supermarkets and shopping malls must be vaccinated. Based on the epidemiological situation, the increase in the circulation of Omicron virus in Europe and the fact that the winter season increases the possibility of getting Sars Cov2 infection, the Committee has decided as follows:

  1. Starting from today, every citizen +18 years old can take the booster dose after 6 months from the second dose.
  2. Following the decision to vaccinate teachers and students, the Committee has decided that by 31 December, all public administration employees, employees of supermarkets and shopping malls who have not been vaccinated, will be vaccinated, as on 4 January a vaccination card or negative PCR test is required every 5 days.
  3. Due to the fact that the new Omicron variant has been identified in citizens who have had travel history and contacts with South African countries, as well as the fact that the nature of the virus’ aggressiveness is still unclear, measures taken by countries of In other parts of the world, the Committee of Experts decided to recommend a ban on the entry of foreign nationals with a history of travel within the last 14 days in the countries:South Africa, Kenya, Angola, Zambia, Bostwana dhe Senegal.

Resident Albanian citizens, who come to Albania and have a travel history of the last 14 days before arrival, in the countries listed above will be quarantined in their homes for 14 days and will be monitored by health units.



Other measures:

– Police hours continue from 23:00 – 06:00.

– It follows that citizens entering the Republic of Albania, from all border points or those in transit, must continue to submit one of the following documents:

  • Vaccination passport, where the date of the last vaccination is at least two weeks applied from the date of entry into the border.
  • PCR test, performed within 72 hours or rapid antigenic test within 48 hours of border entry.
  • Transmission test for Sars-Cov-2 infection valid for up to 6 months after cure.
  • Exemption from the rules set out in point 2, is made for children up to 6 years old.
  • Citizens resident of the Republic of Albania and who do not have any of the documents mentioned in point 1, must be isolated for a period of 10 days and inform the health authorities to perform a test at the end of the isolation period.

It goes on to say that only traveling passengers will be allowed to enter the airport structure, who must rigorously implement masking as recommended under the amended protocol.

– Continues to remain in force in all health institutions, not allowing the entry of family members for persons who are hospitalized.

– The order for the use of masks indoors, in shopping malls, supermarkets, shops, etc., and in all those places where physical distancing is not provided, remains in force.

– The order to allow gatherings of up to 50 people and cultural activities, sports, etc. up to 30% of their capacity with the presence of spectators continues to remain in force.
