On Tuesday, Prime Minister Edi Rama received the French Secretary of State for European Affairs, Laurence Bonne. In this meeting, the prime minister signed the agreement between the Albanian Government and the French Development Agency for the financing of the Waterworks network in Durrës.
With the signing of the agreement, Rama expressed his thanks for the support of the French government for the help given with the search and rescue teams during the earthquake, but also with the funds given at the donors’ conference.
“During the earthquake, the French rescue force was engaged, saving people’s lives in extremely difficult conditions for themselves. Then the president got involved himself by including France in the group of countries that offered support by sending the Foreign Minister to the EU donor conference.
Here we are today, crowning a long process for those who have had questions about the commitment of those funds, as part of them have been put into the implementation process with the EU process for schools, kindergartens and cultural heritage sites and another part are in process for its own things, such as fisheries and civil emergency infrastructure. I have nothing left but to thank the Minister for Europe of France, who has come not only for this but also to express France’s support for the transformations in the region,” said Rama.
