The Special Court has accepted the request for summary judgment for the former mayor of Durres, Vangjush Dako, as well as for Fiqiri Farruk, Fatmir Ejupi and Adrian Bulku.
While for Ferzilet Hajderi, Adnand Toccila, Diana Dedja, Bashkim Salillari and Hanza Reka, the request for ordinary trial and for the division of the case was accepted. The latter, in the last session, requested the declaration of incompetence and the sending of the case for trial to the Court of Durres, with the argument that the charge against them is not cognizable to be examined by this court.
Their request was dismissed by judge Elsa Ulliri.
The former mayor of Durres, Vangjush Dako, is accused of having committed the criminal offense of “abuse of duty” in two cases. One case concerns the construction of a building in Durres 11 years ago, which collapsed due to the earthquake in November 2019, and the other case concerns a tender for the construction of a promenade in 2014-2015, which has caused a damage of 18 million ALL to the state budget.
In case Dako is found guilty, you will benefit from a reduction of the sentence by one third. Vangjush Dako was arrested last June, but for several months he has been kept under house arrest due to the end of the investigation period./abcnews.al
