After the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria the day before, causing thousands of deaths, a cold storm with snowfall has plunged Istanbul into chaos.
The situation is conveyed to ABC News by the journalist Arlind Isa, who today traveled to Turkey to bring the situation to the areas affected by the earthquake, but the difficulties seem to start from the airport.
In a direct link from the “Sabiah Gokcen” airport, he conveyed the situation at this airport already involved in chaos due to the cancellation of flights.
From the contacts with the authorities, the journalist Arlind Isa said that about 10 thousand employees are committed to keep the road axes open.
So many schools have been closed as a result of the worsening weather, which has brought, among other things, travel restrictions. The well-known company Turkish Airlines has so far canceled 260 flights, while it is impossible to find a ticket from Adana, the area affected by Monday’s devastating earthquake.
As for the airport in Gaziantep, the area where the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded, journalist Isa told ABC News that flights there are suspended until February 9.
