The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu has closely followed the process of vaccination in “Air Albania” of the first doctors who have started vaccination with the third dose, or “booster” dose.
“We immediately started with the groups that are most at risk, which are doctors, nurses and today in all health centers where doctors, nurse’s work, but also in our concentrated vaccination facilities, vaccination with the third booster dose has already started for medical personnel. On the other hand, in parallel, the vaccination with the booster dose has started for all those citizens of the age group +60 years and of course for +18 years with health problems “, said Manastirliu.
Reiterating that the age group for vaccination has been reduced to 16 years old and for children +12 years old with problems of the immune system, Manastirliu said that the supply of vaccines will continue to guarantee the vaccination of citizens during this year but also next year.
While the Director of IPH, Albana Fico and the Rector of the University of Medicine, Prof. Arben Gjata have called on citizens to be vaccinated.
“We are very interested that every citizen who has not been vaccinated should come, start with the vaccination process, because as we move forward for further protection of the population it is extremely important to increase the number of vaccinated for to prevent problems with new viruses or strains “, said Fico.
The application of the third dose ‘booster’ will be made for medical staff, for people living in long-term care institutions, for all persons over 60 years of age with chronic diseases. The booster dose should be provided no earlier than 6 months after the end of the second dose vaccination.
People with immunosuppressant will also receive a third dose, according to the recommendation of the family doctor. According to the instructions of the IPH, vaccination has started for the 12-15 year old band with chronic diseases and suppression of immunity as well as for the 16-18 year old age group. /abcnews.al
