The US Embassy in Tirana announces that the United States has provided one million dollars in donations to Albania in the last two years to strengthen the Armed Forces.
Deputy Chief of Mission Demian Smith and Chief of the Office for Defense Cooperation LTC Erol Munir attended a donation ceremony at the Albanian Armed Forces Engineers Battalion.
The Embassy notes that over the past two years, the United States European Command has invested approximately $ 1 million in the renovation of two ammunition storage tunnels, as well as equipment and training for the Albanian Armed Forces.
“It is inspiring to look back at the last thirty years and see how much we have achieved. One of the most important parts of our relationship has been the extraordinary defense partnership. “Who would have imagined thirty years ago that today we would be allies in NATO and our armies would do so much together here and around the world,” said Deputy Chief of Mission Smith during the ceremony.
The Chief of Defense of Albania, Major General Bajram Begaj, thanked the United States for the assistance to the Albanian army and unveiled the plaque in commemoration of the extraordinary work and cooperation./ abcnews.al
