Behar Sofia, a well-known name for police and justice, was executed in a mafia assassination this morning just a few meters from the house in the middle of Tirana.
The 66-year-old lived near a shopping mall on the Lana River in a crowded area of the capital and came out of the apartment a few minutes before being shot with a gun silencer.
Sofia was injured for several minutes on the sidewalk until the ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital, but died on the way. As can be seen in the photos provided by abcnews.al, Sofia was aware for a few minutes after he was shot asking for help after receiving two bullets in the body.
He is a well-known figure as he has been arrested earlier for drug trafficking, while in recent years his businesses in Tirana have often placed explosives. Sofia is also linked to the Turk Abdulselam Turgut, previously arrested for heroin trafficking./abcnews.al
