President of the Republic, Ilir Meta warned this Friday that Albania is risking catastrophe due to mismanagement of the pandemic situation.
In the weekly press conference, the Head of State said that the country risks a catastrophe for the life and health of citizens because according to him, the government has only confusing, changeable and non-transparent plans for vaccination.
Regarding the plan of the government to vaccinate some personalities over 80 before others, President reacted harshly, stressing that this is typical of dictatorial countries. He added that only the internationally established scientific criteria of health status and age are the ones that should set the priorities in vaccinating the population.
“Hospital centers and services without equipment, such as respirators, ventilators and medicines necessary to fight this pandemic can no longer be left. Thousands of doctors cannot be left without protective equipment. Citizens can not be left in a panic to face the pandemic. The sick cannot be left at the mercy of fate, who are treated in the apartment, for whom nothing is reimbursed. Undoubtedly it is time to review the state budget, in support of the health sector.
It is unfortunate that it has been almost a year that all the demands of the President have been ignored. Everything has been tried to be politicized with improvisations. We could have some standards. Undoubtedly the greatest support should have gone, in addition to health, to businesses, not concessions. There was no reason to double the concession payments, because the imaginary tunnels wait, while the health does not wait, because in 14 days either a citizen is saved, or he suffers. Life never comes back. A road is built again, a tunnel is built, but life does not return “, said Meta./abcnews.al
