Three people, two of them from Greece and another from Albania have been put under investigation after they were caught leaving the country with large amounts of undeclared euros.
According to the police, the first investigative actions against the citizens were carried out by the Section for Investigation of Trafficking and Narcotics and the Section for Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in the Local Police Directorate of Gjirokastra.
The materials were sent to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Gjirokastra Judicial District regarding the charges raised for the criminal offenses “Money laundering the proceeds of crime or criminal activity” and “Failure to declare money and valuables at the border”.
During the control of personal belongings and luggage, at the exit of the Republic of Albania, the Greek citizen A. D., 46 years old, resident in Argos, Greece, was serized 20,200 undeclared euros.
