The Special Court of Appeals has remanded the case to the former minister for retrial, overturning the sentence of 5 years in prison, converted to 3.4 years of probation by the Serious Crimes Court.

The trial panel has stated that there is no evidence to prove the allegations made against the former Minister for “Abuse of Duty”.

The court also rejected Tahiri’s claim that he is being tried twice after he brought the verdict of innocence from the court of Catania in Italy, arguing that it is about two different courts.

The prosecution had not filed a new charge against Tahiri, but according to the court, the decision also included charges of cultivating the narcotics.

The former minister will be tried again in GjKKO(Special Court Against Crime and Corruption)   to be re-examined from the beginning. The investigation into Tahiri could take time, keeping him out of politics./abcnews.al
