During the ceremony honoring the medalists of the Olympic Games, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania will provide safe support for sports. The head of the government also said that our country offers training under optimal conditions.
So Rama stopped at the Weightlifting Federation, where he said that he has given our country 5 gold medals this year.
“The time has come to give those who sweat more than others… not only the opportunity to train in optimal conditions, but also a stability of their lives even after sports activities.
Albania offers athletes conditions they have never had before. In one sense this is luck, but in another sense the garlic issue needs to be addressed as it relates to information.
We had no reason to be happy about these medals because they were not ours, Albania’s. These were medals that came to us as a result of two guys who came from far away, they were found by chance in Albania and on the way they caught the Olympic team bus and went to France, they got out there, they beat them up and took the medal.
Here are Albania’s medals in various championships. In three years, Albania has received 538 medals. They are medals of different levels. Albanians of all ages have competed with others, here in the Balkans and beyond. I am extremely pleased to say that if you look at the weightlifting medals, the federation that works so hard is heard little and then ignored out of ignorance and to some extent deliberately.
It has brought Albania a significant number of medals. In the 2024 Medsalj, the Weightlifting Federation has brought Albania 5 gold medals. There are a total of 12 medals this year. It must be said that these medals are the first swallows of a story that will bring new medals.
We are a country that for 23 years until we came to the government, they stopped physical education. Physical education teachers were left on the streets, all sports disciplines were practiced by the passion of people who wanted to keep sports alive,” said Rama.
