The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, reports to the Economy Commission, regarding the annual report of the BSH. During his speech, he emphasized that problem loans have been decreasing, while underlining that inflation marked a continuous gradual decline during 2023.
According to him, the fall in inflation appeared more quickly in food items and more slowly in service items.
“The level of inflation above the target and the positive state of the economy influenced the current positive situation. “Inflation is now at objective levels, however economic policies are needed for stability”, he said.
He further added that the strengthening of the lek has been continuous.
“The Albanian banking sector closed the year 2023 with a positive result. The risks of the banking system remain controlled. Continued investment over the years has strengthened the resistance to the banking sector over the years.
During 2023, we continued the work to strengthen the security networks in the financial system. Two achievements were recorded last year, the exit of Albania from the gray list is the most culminating point and is an important achievement for the country as it shows the commitment against corruption and the fight against terrorism”, he said among other things.
