This year, Albania marks the 15th anniversary of its membership in the largest military alliance, NATO.
From our diplomatic representation in Brussels, Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi expressed his appreciation for the contribution that our representatives have made and make every day, in this journey.
“We are fortunate to be part of the NATO space, of this powerful military alliance. I want to congratulate the daily work that our delegation does to convey the messages, the positions and to lobby the national strategic interests here in NATO, in various committees, but also in the commands, not only in Brussels, but also in the whole space of NATO”, emphasized Minister Peleshi.
The military representative of the Republic of Albania in NATO, Brigadier General Ilir Pujo, says that the military part is the voice and figure of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, which represents our country in NATO forums, in military committees, subcommittees, working groups and different boards.
According to Colonel Leonard Kollçaku, the Deputy military representative of RSH in NATO, “the primary task of the military staff is to prepare the best possible military advice for the decision-making authorities in Tirana and the North Atlantic Council in accordance with our national interests expressed in strategic documents”.
However, the planning process is also of particular importance, which according to Defense Policy Adviser Ina Stratoberdha, is another important element that makes possible the connection between the political component and the operational needs of the Alliance.
On this anniversary, Albania marks a series of achievements in the field of security and defense.
On March 4, the NATO tactical air base was inaugurated in Kucova, the only Alliance base in the region, while the modernization of the Armed Forces continues at a fast pace, in fulfillment of the Alliance’s obligations./abcnews.al
