Sali Berisha arrives for the first time at the Special Prosecutor’s Office to be interrogated as a person under investigation for the Partizani file. At 10:00, Berisha arrived at the premises of the special prosecution accompanied by his lawyer Sokol Mengjesi and Genc Gjokutaj.
In addition to Berisha, the investigations of the new justice have included his son-in-law Jamarber Malletzi, who will be questioned on January 25, two days after his father-in-law.
At the moment of arrival in front of SPAK, Berisha attacked this structure, describing it as a “structured criminal group”. “The battle with the underworld continues, the opposition will win.
“I am here to represent you, the Albanians, pluralism and the Democratic Party. I am here today to denounce Edi Rama and the organized criminal group that are in this building, that are in the battle against pluralism. We will win, victory”, said Berisha.
Berisha, 79, is the most senior opposition official in three decades to face such a legal situation. He is under investigation for the criminal offense of corruption together with his son-in-law, Jamarber Malltezi, who is accused by SPAK of having benefited from an income of 5.4 million euros from a construction business in an irregular manner thanks to the government decisions taken by his father-in-law.
