The investigations into the 4 Russians who lost their lives in one of the resorts in Qerret i Kavaja have stalled. Since the Russian side has not responded to the letter from the former prosecutor’s office in Kavaje, today in Durrës, the investigations remain suspended. It has been more than 1 and a half years since our prosecutors have asked their Russian counterparts for information regarding the 4 dead Russians.
However, the Russian side has not put “water on the fire” to respond, which has increased our side’s doubts about the cause of their death.
After the death of 4 Russians, our forensic medicine brought an answer that identified carbon monoxide as the cause of death, but the environmental investigation did not find any percentage of carbon monoxide, which increased doubts about the cause of death.
Sources from the prosecution say that the 4 Russians all died at almost the same time, which casts doubt on the cause of their death.
This is added even more by the fact that the Russian side has not dealt with this issue at all since the moment when their citizens were found dead.
Under these conditions, the prosecution’s investigations remain suspended. As soon as new facts are found or if the Russians respond, the prosecutor’s office in Durrës says that it will immediately restart the investigation into this event.
This event happened on October 15, 2021 in the indoor pool of a hotel in Qerret, Kavaje. The people who were found dead are Sergei Burenkov, 60 years old, his wife Nataliia Burenkova, 58 years old, daughter Ekaterina Burenkova, 31 years old, and son-in-law Nikita Belousov, 37 years old./ abcnews.al
