A disobedience to the Greek police to stop the vehicle led to the imprisonment of Laert Haxhiu, the most wanted man who was sentenced to 18 years in prison for murder. A
BC News journalist Ermal Vija reported that on Monday evening in Janina, Haxhiu was traveling with two other people in the vehicle, where the police called him to stop. The police order was not respected, so the latter stopped the vehicle.
While they were looking for the documents, 31-year-old Laert Haxhiu gave the officers a Greek document and after the verifications, it turned out that it is a question of another citizen.
“It is the Greek media that have disclosed other details regarding the arrest of Laert Haxhi. It is about Monday evening in Ioannina, where a vehicle in which 3 people were traveling, the police officers initially signaled for them to stop, but the vehicle did not respond. From the detention, it turned out that there were 3 people, including Laert Haxhiu.
Initially, the latter presented a Greek document to the police officers, where it was about another citizen and then, from the verifications, it turned out that it was about Laert Haxhiu. During the search of the vehicle, 4 mobile phones, some other items and 1400 euros were found. It is expected that Haxhiu will appear before the court in Greece, with the aim of extraditing him to our country.
As far as the Greek justice is concerned, we can say that there will now only be that of falsifying documents, for which he was stopped by the police officers in Ioannina”, reported the journalist Vija.
