Begaj sees “Defender Europe 2023” as very important due to Ukraine war

President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj underlined this Monday that the American military exercise “Defender 2023” has a great and tangible importance in the current geopolitical situation after the Russian aggression in Ukraine, but also about the situation in the Western Balkans.

During his speech during this activity, where Prime Minister Edi Rama and American Ambassador Yuri Kim were also present, the Head of State said that the continuity of this exercise is more necessary.

Among other things, Begaj underlined that Albania is committed to its mission as a stabilizing factor in the Balkans and an exporter of security in the region and beyond.

In the meantime, the Head of State encouraged the government to increase support for the Armed Forces and Albania’s contribution to the NATO military alliance.

“Two years ago, when we started work on Defender Europe 2021, we knew that the challenge was too big for our country’s capacities. However, we managed to show that we know how to responsibly rise to the task and that our little Albania actually punches above its weight.
