Government of Prime Minister Edi Rama has agreed this Thursday on the amendments regarding the assessment of noise in the environment, while the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Mirela Kumbaro said that there will be more controls to avoid acoustic pollution in the premises during the season of summer.
Following the cabinet meeting, Minister Kumbaro underlined that the time periods for musical activities during the summer season will be from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
However, this law will go to the Assembly for approval in the following weeks and then the municipalities will determine the noise map.
“We solved a problem accumulated for years by amending the noise law and starting this season, with the approval of the law in parliament, we will have a stricter control of the law.
We will have more controlled time bands and an expanded competence of the state police in terms of control with certified tools and according to WHO standards to control noise pollution and schedules, but also a new task for the municipalities from the entry into force of this law, have the duty to define the noise map to clearly define the residential areas that will be quiet, where they are far from family homes or hotels where fun activities with free music take place, as well as there will be a more separation clear competences between the municipal police that will continue to control and will be equipped with accredited certification tools for other types of noise that can be created by different businesses and different activities in the different territories of the municipalities.
So, a clearer division of powers to put an end to the ball being thrown between the environment, health, the police and the municipality. The control will be done with certified means. Time zones for the summer season and daily musical activities will be 12 noon to 12 midnight and in accordance with the mapping from the municipality, the police will take the powers to control economic activities that do not respect these norms”, said Kumbaro.
