Today will be a day of national mourning in Albania as a sign of solidarity for Turkey, which has stood by our country after the earthquake of November 26, 2019. The decision of the Albanian government was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama a few days ago through a post on social networks.
“The Albanian Government has decided that Monday, February 13, will be a NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING as a sign of pain and prayer for the victims of the great tragedy of the earthquake on the Turkish-Syrian border, as well as a sign of solidarity with our friend Turkey, which it was close by when a similar disaster hit Albania a while ago.
The lowering of the national flag at half-mast and the lighting of a candle by everyone according to the desire and possibility, will be the meaningful signs of a Monday marked by human pain and popular solidarity that transcend our borders,” Prime Minister Rama announced.
