David J. Kostelancik currently serves as Foreign Policy Advisor to the US Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley. He has served more
previously as Deputy Chief of Mission and for two years as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.
He has also held the positions of Director of the Office of South Central European Affairs and Director of the Office of Russian Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs as well as Director of the Office of Europe and Asia in the International Bureau of Narcotics and Enforcement Affairs. of the Law.
Mr. Kostelancik has served twice at the American Embassy in Moscow. He has also served in the US missions to the OSCE and NATO. He also served in Ankara, Turkey.
Diplomat Kostelancik, originally from the state of Illinois, graduated from Northwestern University in this state. He also holds two master’s degrees from the National War College and the University of Michigan. He speaks Russian, Hungarian, Albanian and Turkish.
If his candidacy is approved by the Senate, diplomat Kostelancik will replace the current American ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim.
