During the media conference on the achievements of 2022 and the projects of 2023, the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu said that public health programs will be strengthened.
“The national anticovid vaccination program is being combined with the flu vaccination in all health centers in the country. Over 1.3 million citizens have been vaccinated so far with the first dose of the antiCovid vaccine; over 1.2 million received the second dose; over 350 thousand citizens were vaccinated with the third dose and over 45 thousand citizens with the fourth dose. As for the flu vaccine, more than 200,000 citizens have been vaccinated this year,” said Manastirliu.
Speaking about the national vaccination program, the Minister of Health said that the HPV vaccine was included for the first time.
Minister Manastirliu also spoke about strengthening the capacities of PIH and field structures, about the active surveillance system for the control of Covid 19, infectious diseases and seasonal flu, as well as the increase by 40% of the capacities in the apparatus for laboratory analysis.
Also, the minister announced that the government has decided to expand the benefit band and if until now this category included children and young people up to 25 years old, during 2023 also pensioners +65 years old, from which more than 50 thousand pensioners will benefit.
Minister Manastirliu said that this year funding increases by 4 million dollars for the List of Reimbursable Medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases, bringing it to 11.4 billion ALL.
“Diabetes tablets will also be available for free for the over 65 age group starting this year”, said Manastirliu.
