Three years since the tragic earthquake of November 26 in Albania

This Saturday marks the 3rd anniversary of the tragic earthquake that occurred on November 26, 2019, where 51 people lost their lives and more than 1,000 were injured.

The earthquake caused great material damage and the collapse of hundreds of homes, leaving many families homeless, mainly in Thumana and in some areas of Durrës.

The morning of November 26, when the country was rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, left an incurable wound for the families and relatives of its 51 victims.

That powerful earthquake left behind hundreds of injured people, mainly in Durres, Kurbi, Tirana and Lezhë.

Demolition of buildings, houses, schools and other institutions. The desperate cries of relatives whose relatives were under the ruins, the sirens of ambulances, police, firemen, and the army, sounded everywhere.

Over 200,000 people were directly affected by the damage it left behind. Albania immediately returned to the center of world media reports. Albanians, neighbors, partners start a quick mobilization to come to Albania’s aid.

Today, one year later, the consequences are still fresh, the consequences of that devastating earthquake, for the lives lost and for the situation in which the citizens who have lost their homes find themselves.
