The European Court of Human Rights has deemed inadmissible the request of the former Governor of the Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani, dismissing it.
The court has unanimously decided to depose Fullan, who sued the Albanian state after being dismissed from office in 2014. In the decision of the Strasbourg Court, it is emphasized that Fullan had not used all the domestic legal remedies available to him.
“The case was about the decision of the Assembly in 2014 to dismiss Mr. Fullani from office as Governor of the Central Bank of Albania after his arrest on suspicion of abuse of office. He was then innocent. He brought legal action to challenge his dismissal, and the courts essentially found in his favor, but rejected his request for additional compensation and reinstatement.
