The dead body of former President Bujar Nishani has arrived at the Presidency this morning. His coffin will be placed in the “Skanderbeg” hall, where family members will receive visits and homage from relatives, friends and well-wishers.
The homage will take place for two days in a row.
The program of the ceremony in honor of the former President of the Republic, Bujar Nishani:
Dt. June 1, 2022 (Wednesday)
– The arrival of the coffin with the body of President Bujar Nishani in Tirana early in the morning and the “Skënderbeu” Hall of the Institution of the President will be located.
– Morning 10: 00-14.00 and afternoon 16.30-22.00, the family will host occasional visits and homage from relatives, friends and loved ones.
Dt. June 2, 2022 (Thursday)
10: 00-12.00 Official homage according to the ceremonial and state protocol.
After 12.00, the coffin with the body of President Nishani, accompanied by the funeral procession goes on foot to the Lana Bridge, then leaves for the Sharra cemetery where the funeral ceremony will take place.

The former president passed away on Saturday after being hospitalized for a month in a hospital in Berlin, Germany. He was initially hospitalized at the “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital in Tirana, as he had post-Covid complications. The former president was sent for more specialized treatment, but his health deteriorated due to pronounced pulmonary insufficiency.
In his political career he was known for his caring language and prudence. Bujar Nishani was one of the most important figures of the Democratic Party.
He has held several important positions as deputy, minister and chairman of the National Council in the blue headquarters. In 2012, Nishani was elected president. While most recently he was a member of the Re-establishment Commission.
