A young man died inside the police station, 3 officers arrested

3 police officers from Kavaja have been arrested after the serious incident that took place in the detention facilities, where 31-year-old Ilvi Meta comitted suicide.

– Bexhet Berberi, acting inspector
– Rushit Kola, acting inspector
– Petrit Brahimaj, acting non-commissioner

The suicide of a 31-year-old man in the premises of the Kavaja Police Station on Wednesday evening was another tragic news for the Albanian society. Ilvi Meta, who was detained on Wednesday around 12:00, ended his life inside the cell by hanging himself, only 6 hours after being escorted by the police. The young man was detained on charges of theft, a charge for which he had been previously convicted.

Sources for Abc suggest that his detention on Wednesday was made after he was accused of a theft that occurred on April 2 in an apartment in Kavaja,

The father of the victim Ilvi Meta, Agim Meta, also reacted to this serious event, accusing the police, while stating that his son was accused of stealing an aluminum door.

The opposition also reacted to this event through the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the PD MP, Dashnor Sula, whom they accuse the police of, saying that the young man did not commit suicide, but lost his life as a result of the violence exercised inside the cell from police.
