Prime Minister Edi Rama has said from Azerbaijan that Albania will take concrete steps to gasify the country in cooperation with Azerbaijan.

During the interview from there Rama said that Albanian, Azeri and Turkish experts are discussing to explore the possibility of building a new refinery.

We will work very closely for the gasification of Albania and in this aspect the first very important step is the start of a concrete work for the Ionian-Adriatic gas pipeline, which in fact through TAP connects the upper part which means Albania with the Mountain.

Montenegro, Bosnia and in fact turns Albania into a very important gas distribution hub. On the other hand, we talked about sitting together, our experts, Azerbaijani experts and Turkish experts to explore the possibility of building a new refinery.

“Just as we talked about Azerbaijan’s investment in tourism, given the excellent example that Azerbaijan has set in Montenegro, with the construction of an ultra-modern hospitality infrastructure,” Rama said.

-Mr. Prime Minister, you are returning to another official visit after 2014 when the TAP works started. What did you discuss with President Aliyev and did you reach any concrete agreement regarding energy investments?

Prime Minister Edi Rama: We have been in contact with President Aliyev for a long time and we have established a very good friendship thanks to the fact that on the one hand we have a great mutual friend, President Erdogan.

On the other hand, in the capacity of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Albania has been an unwavering supporter of the cause of Azerbaijan for the return of a part of the territory under its sovereignty, and with this visit, we have in fact taken an important step, no that is what should be said when a visit is made, but because we have actually decided to start a process to strengthen our bilateral relationship through energy and tourism.

– Mr. Prime Minister, there is a deadline for when Albanians will have access to these investments, for how long are all stages of investment foreseen?

Prime Minister Edi Rama: Investments are always related to successive steps, studies, projects, financing, so these are not things that happen in the blink of an eye, but in this relationship we have laid the foundations and there is a big obstacle was the pandemic, which intervened very aggressively and in the meantime among the many great evils brought about by the war in Ukraine, has brought the good, if we can call it that, of accelerating this process.

– You had a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament and the Prime Minister, can you tell us what you discussed in these meetings?

Prime Minister Edi Rama: Meetings with the Speaker of Parliament and the Prime Minister have been complementary to the very long and very intensive meeting we had with President Aliyev.
